Hyphy Vs. Crunk! Who would of THUNK!

Steven of course.... Just like his mom in some ways comes home from school and tells me his compare and contrast essay was due... I think oh god, please don't tell me its due tomorrow. Guess what, its due tomorrow... BUT then he continues to tell me that it is done he just wants me to type it because I type so much faster HAHA!!! So he busts out his paper and it is done, it has already been looked over by his teacher and it really does ALOMST, KINDA, SORDA just need to be typed. Then I look at the title. Only my son I swear. Enjoy!

Hyphy Vs Crunk

People think that hyphy and crunk are the same thing. Hyphy and crunk do have similarities but are two different styles of music and dance. If you think that they are the same, my advice to you is to read this. In the next few paragraphs I will tell you the differences and also share with you the similarities.

Hyphy is a style of music and dance that came from the Bay Area Hip Hop Culture. It is music that sounds gritty, and has pounding rhythms to up-tempo beats. “Getting Hyphy” is acting or dancing in an overstated, fast paced and sometimes ridiculous manner. If you have ever heard of someone “getting stupid” or “going dumb” that is what many people call Hyphy. Mac Dre invented hyphy in the late 90’s. Hyphy sideshows were performed in places like Sacramento, Oakland, East Palo Alto, San Francisco and other cities in Northern California.

Crunk is a genre of hip hop music. It is high energy and has a club oriented feel. Crunk involves hoarse chants, and repetitive simple refrains. A typical Crunk song uses 4 bars of music generated by electric drums and synthesizers that repeat. Crunk became popular in 2007 when rapper Lil John advertised Nike sneakers as Crunk. Crunk is performed in many different states across the southern area.

Both crunk and Hyphy have dance styles. They also have other nicknames. Both styles involve going crazy, shouting and shaking your head. They were both invented by rappers. Hyphy and Crunk are still going on today thanks to rappers and to people like you and me that enjoy it. I enjoy both styles.
